As many of you may know, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's back in the summer of 1986...over a dozen years ago. And in that time, I think I can honestly say I have learned much about that disease and what it can do to a family.
But you know, something happens to you when a disease like that enters your life. Some how...some way, you tend to forget that there are other diseases that just as vicious, just as merciless and just as consuming.
And yet; these people, these families and loved ones who are touched by these dementias...are left to struggle on alone.
I don't know why I needed someone to point out to me that a website like this needed to be created. Maybe it's because I have spent the better part of my adult life consumed in the world of Alzheimer's and my mother.
And to be honest, were it not for the fact that I developed an ever-lasting friendship with someone who is struggling to cope with a disease that is NOT Alzheimer's, I doubt this website would have ever been created. You see, she showed me her world...she made me realize that these diseases are just as heartless, and just as cruel as Alzheimer's is. And yet, for the most part, they seem to be completely overlooked.
So that is why this website is here. For all of the Bob's and Jacks, Megans , Marilyns and Jayes. For every person whose loved one is being destroyed by a dementia we cannot stop. This will be their legacy...
Please feel free to take what ever information you want from this place as long as it is NOT FOR PROFIT. And in exchange, I only ask two things of you. First, before you go, won't you take a moment and drop me an e-mail about what you thought of this place? I honestly WANT to hear your thoughts and comments about it. All you have to do is hit the button below...it's connected to my e-mail.
And secondly, I ask that you DO NOT take these beautiful midi's you are listening to OR the graphics created just for this site. You see, the midis are a very special gift from my best friend and they belong HERE. I put them in so that you would have something beautiful to hold on to...so please don't betray my trust. If I hear them in any other site, I will withdraw them...because you see, you won't be taking just some songs...you will be taking my best friend and a gift she made especially for me. I do hope you enjoy them, but when you go...leave her...and her songs behind...because you have no idea how very special they BOTH are to me.
Oh...and one more thing. I know this site has a rather hard address to remember, so if you find it useful, you might want to bookmark it, (or add it to favorites).
It is my hope that you may find solace here within the pages.
