Below are children whose parent or loved one suffered from a dementia that was caused by something other than Alzheimer's Disease.
This
angel grew up with a grandfather who had AD and Korsakoff's (formally known
as hardening of the arteries) and she now works in a nursing home with
lots of individuals who suffer from some form of dementia. Not only that,
but Jonda also holds a Masters in Counseling but she's a licensed social
worker too. As you can see, this is one diversified angel who can help
with many different problems!
Rita
is a daughter who cared for her mom, Mary, at home until the end. She also
has a great deal of knowledge about Dialysis, Arthritis and helping cope
with the grief of losing a loved one.
Martha's
background lies in Multi-Infarct Dementia in a parent. Her mother was diagnosed
some months ago and she's been learning about it ever since.
Eileen
is the angel to talk to if you're in need of an ear about Alcohol Dementia,
long distance caregiving of a parent....or both! Her parent is suspected
of having a dementia related to alcohol abuse, so she's been learning a
lot about it ever since.
Laura
is another daughter with a lot of background in dealing with dementia as
well as Down Syndrome. Her brother Chuck was born with DS and although
he isn't symptomatic yet, she is well informed about Downs and Dementia.
Megans
father Dave, recently passed away from complications brought on from being
a longtime sufferer of MS. Many of these years were spent with Megan and
her mother Pat, being the primary caregiver. Megan is a wonderful person
to talk to about home caregiving, Hospice, and the challenges of loving
someone with MS.
